Hey race fans, welcome back to Driving on Marbles! It’s Saturday morning and we’re heading into one of the most unpredictable race weekends of the entire season. The Cup Series is at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta for the Quaker State 400 and if you’ve watched any of the recent Atlanta races you know exactly what that means. Pack racing. Multi-car wrecks. Lead changes every three laps. And a finish that nobody sees coming.\
Let’s get into this weeks picks post.
A Quick Look Back At Chicagoland Last Weekend
Before we get into this week’s card let’s talk about what happened at Chicagoland last weekend. Chase Briscoe won the eero 400 by 0.276 seconds over Christopher Bell in a JGR 1-2-3 finish, the eighth time in organization history that Joe Gibbs Racing has swept the top three spots. It was Briscoe’s first win of the 2026 season and his sixth career Cup victory. Bell was coming on strong in the closing laps but couldn’t quite close the gap when it mattered most. Our main driver Tyler Reddick unfortunately had another tough day with a DNF, extending a frustrating stretch of mechanical reliability issues. The championship gap to Hamlin has now grown to 44 points which is not where we want to be but the season is long and Reddick’s speed when the car is running remains the fastest in the field.
Now let’s talk about Atlanta. This is the second Cup race at EchoPark Speedway this season and everything about this track is different from what we faced at Chicagoland last week. Since the 2022 reconfiguration, Atlanta races like a superspeedway. The 1.54-mile quad-oval has 28 degrees of banking in the turns which creates pack drafting similar to Daytona and Talladega but in a tighter space. That makes it arguably the most chaotic track on the entire schedule because the Big One can happen at any moment and there’s nowhere to hide when it does.
The Quaker State 400 runs 260 laps across 400.4 miles with superspeedway-style drafting throughout. Green flag drops at 7:00 PM ET on TNT this Sunday under the lights. And because this is a superspeedway-style race, we’re building the card the same way we did at Talladega earlier this season: one inside top 12 pick alongside Reddick and four outside picks loaded with superspeedway value. The chalk gets crushed at Atlanta more than almost anywhere else on the schedule and the longshots have a genuine shot every single lap.
Let’s get into the card.
My Main Pick: Tyler Reddick (2nd in points, 720 pts, 5 wins)
Reddick is our locked-in main driver for the second half and Atlanta is genuinely one of his best tracks on the schedule. He won this exact race in February, holding off Chase Briscoe and Ross Chastain to take the checkered flag in the spring Atlanta race earlier this season. He’s a proven winner at this specific track in the superspeedway configuration and the 23XI Racing Toyota has been one of the fastest cars on drafting tracks all season with wins at both Daytona and Atlanta already.
Yes, the Chicagoland DNF was painful and the championship gap has grown to 44 points behind Hamlin. But the beauty of Atlanta’s superspeedway-style racing is that it completely levels the playing field. The fastest car doesn’t always win at Atlanta. The smartest driver in the draft wins. And Reddick has already proven he knows how to navigate this specific kind of pack racing better than almost anyone else in the field. He won here five months ago. The car, the team, and the driver all know exactly what it takes to win at EchoPark Speedway. He’s our guy.
Inside Top 12 Pick: Ryan Blaney (3rd in points, 651 pts, 1 win)
One inside top 12 pick alongside Reddick this week and it’s Blaney at a track type where he’s genuinely one of the most dangerous drivers in the entire field.
Blaney has three career Talladega wins and is one of the best superspeedway racers in the Cup Series. He hasn’t finished worse than 11th in any points race since May which is an incredible stretch of consistency that very few other drivers can match. At the spring Atlanta race in February he started 22nd, led six laps, and still finished 10th showing he can work through the field at this track even from a poor starting position.
He’s the co-favorite at +900 alongside Reddick and Chase Elliott and the Team Penske Ford draft alliance with Logano and Cindric gives him strong push partners when the pack racing gets intense in the closing laps. His superspeedway pedigree combined with his recent consistency makes him the perfect inside anchor for a drafting track card.
Outside Top 12 Pick No. 1: Joey Logano (18th in points, 395 pts)
Logano has won two of the last four Atlanta races. He won the fall 2024 race and the spring 2023 race at this track. That is the best recent Atlanta win record of any driver sitting outside the top 12 this week and the price doesn’t reflect it at all.
At +1400 for a two-time recent Atlanta winner the value is genuinely outstanding. The Team Penske Ford draft alliance with Blaney and Cindric gives him strong push partners and his veteran superspeedway instincts are among the best in the garage. He knows how to position himself in the draft, he knows when to make bold moves, and he knows how to be at the front when the checkered flag drops at a track like this. He’s the most confident outside pick on the card.
Outside Top 12 Pick No. 2: Bubba Wallace (13th in points, 484 pts)
Wallace is the 23XI Racing teammate to our main driver Reddick and that connection is genuinely valuable at a superspeedway-style track where push partner alliances between teammates and manufacturer allies can decide the outcome of the race.
Reddick won this race in February and Wallace benefits directly from the same Toyota alliance and draft strategy that put the No. 45 in Victory Lane. At superspeedway-style tracks the manufacturer alliances become everything in the closing laps and having both 23XI Racing cars on the card means we’re covered from both sides of the Toyota push partner network. He finished third at Michigan showing the car has genuine speed and a top-ten result at Atlanta is well within reach. At +2200 the value is right.
Outside Top 12 Pick No. 3: Ross Chastain (22nd in points, 375 pts)
Chastain finished third at the spring Atlanta race in February right behind our main driver Reddick. He also won the spring 2024 Atlanta race. That gives him a win and a podium in his last two visits to this specific track configuration which is one of the strongest recent Atlanta records of any driver outside the top 12.
His aggressive driving style is genuinely built for pack racing at a track like Atlanta where bold moves and willingness to put yourself in the thick of it at 190 mph can be the difference between running up front and getting shuffled back. He’s 22nd in the standings and outside the playoff bubble which adds desperation to his approach and at a superspeedway-style track that desperation can absolutely work in your favor. At +3500 for a driver with a win and a third in his last two Atlanta visits the value is impossible to ignore.
Outside Top 12 Pick No. 4: Zane Smith (23rd in points, 349 pts)
This is the data pick of the week and the numbers are genuinely compelling.
RotoWire specifically highlights that Zane Smith has been sixth at Daytona, seventh at Atlanta in February, and fifth at Talladega in 2026.
Those are all superspeedway-style races and he has finished in the top seven at every single one of them this season. That is a perfect three-for-three rate of top-seven finishes on drafting tracks in 2026 which is a consistency level that very few other drivers in the field can match at this track type.
He also finished 11th or better in his last three series starts at Atlanta. Front Row Motorsports has consistently punched above their weight at superspeedway-style tracks and Smith’s ability to navigate the draft and be in the right position late in the race has been one of the most impressive developments of his 2026 season. At a long price for a driver with a seventh at this exact track five months ago the value is genuinely outstanding. He’s the dart of the week.
Dark Horses Worth Watching
William Byron (+1000) — Four Next Gen era wins on drafting tracks, the most of any active driver. Won at Atlanta twice in 2022 and 2023. Inside the top 12 at 12th. If you want a second inside pick with superspeedway credentials he’s the strongest option on the board.
Carson Hocevar (+1600) — RotoWire specifically recommends him this week noting he has “one of the best records at Atlanta in the last five races” with top-ten finishes in both Atlanta races during his rookie year. Won at Talladega earlier this season. Inside the top 12 at 9th. His aggressive style either wins or wrecks at superspeedways and the upside is genuinely massive.
Chase Briscoe (+1400) — Finished second at the spring Atlanta race behind Reddick in February and just won at Chicagoland last week. Inside the top 12 at 8th. The momentum and the Atlanta track record are both working in his favor.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (+3000) — Two-time Talladega winner and a genuine superspeedway specialist who consistently outperforms his standings position on drafting tracks. Worth a look as a deep dart at a long price.
Drivers I'm Steering Clear Of
Denny Hamlin (+1600) — The championship leader and the best oval driver in NASCAR right now but superspeedway-style tracks have genuinely not been kind to him. He has just five top tens in 27 Next Gen starts on superspeedway-style tracks. That is a genuinely poor superspeedway record for a driver of his caliber and at +1600 the price doesn’t account for that track-type weakness.
Kyle Larson (+1000) — Strong at intermediates and road courses but his superspeedway record has been inconsistent throughout his career. At a track where the Big One can wipe out anyone at any moment, better value exists with drivers who have genuine superspeedway pedigree.
Carson Hocevar at his current price — Already mentioned as a dark horse because the talent is real but there’s a flip side. An article this week noted that NASCAR rivals have expressed frustration with Hocevar’s aggressive driving at superspeedway-style tracks. That kind of attention from the garage could lead to retaliation or isolation in the draft which is a genuine risk.
Shane Van Gisbergen — His oval learning curve continues and superspeedway-style pack racing at Atlanta is one of the most difficult challenges for any driver regardless of experience. The chaos factor works against him at this track type.

Wrapping Up This Week's Picks Post For The Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway
That’s the card everyone and I really like how it’s structured for a superspeedway-style race. Reddick as our main driver at the track where he won five months ago. Blaney as the single inside anchor with the best superspeedway pedigree in the field. Logano as the two-time recent Atlanta winner from outside the top 12 at a price that doesn’t reflect his credentials. Wallace as the 23XI Racing teammate play who benefits from the Toyota alliance that won this race in February. Chastain with a win and a third at this track in his last two visits. And Zane Smith as the data play with a perfect three-for-three top-seven rate on drafting tracks in 2026.
At a superspeedway-style race where the Big One can shuffle the entire field in a single moment, going heavy on outside picks is the smartest approach. We used this same strategy at Talladega earlier this season where Stenhouse finished sixth and Chastain finished seventh winning Stage 2. The value is in the outside tier at drafting tracks and this card reflects that philosophy completely.
Green flag drops at 7:00 PM ET on TNT tomorrow night under the Atlanta lights. I’ll be back after the checkered flag with the full race recap and a breakdown of how the card held up. See you then everyone! 🏁
