Martin Truex Jr. Dominates Kobalt 400 Winning All 3 Stages At Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Martin Truex Jr. sweeps all three stages of Sunday’s running of the Kobalt 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, chasing down Brad Keselowski.
We definitely had our share of races where we’ve dominated and gave one away, and it looked like today was going to be another one of those,” said Truex, who after a restart on lap 259 just couldn’t seem to catch Keselowski. “The runs just didn’t work out the way we needed them. We were struggling on the really long runs.
Brad Keselowski stated in a post-race interview that while he didn’t know exactly what had happened to his car, he did say that he had lost his brakes and that he had a difficult time steering.
At the end, we have to go to inspection and stuff, so we’re not allowed to look. I just know it was something major. It wouldn’t turn and I lost brakes, so that’s a pretty good indicator, but that’s the way it goes. That’s racing and that’s why you watch until the end and you never know what’s going to happen.
Keselowski managed to hold on for a fifth place finish.
While Truex Jr. was celebrating his win, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano mix it up on pit road. Busch believed Logano dumped him in the corner stating in a post race interview
I got dumped, flat out just drove into the corner and wrecked me”. He went on to say that that was how Logano races and that “He’s gonna get it
Logano claims that what happened was as a result of hard racing.
I don’t know. We were just racing hard there at the end. I was underneath him on the backstretch and he tried to crash me into the corner getting underneath Brad (Keselowski) there and at that point I was just trying to get through the corner. I was sideways all the way through and got into him. Nothing intentional. I understand his frustration, he crashed. The same thing could have happened into (Turn) 3 what he did to me.
Next week the West Coast swing continues in Phoenix for the Camping World 500.
