Nascar Picks For This Weekend’s Kobalt 400 At Las Vegas.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series heads cross-country this week to the West coast for it’s annual 3 race swing starting in Las Vegas.
This week’s Kobalt 400 is the second race in a row racing on a 1.5-mile track and in my opinion, the drivers who performed well at last week’s race at Atlanta should be the drivers at the front of the pack this weekend at Las Vegas.
I gotta say I am really liking the new stage racing that NASCAR implemented this year…as I am sure Kevin Harvick is as well! Without winning a race so far this year, Harvick is topping the leaderboard with 90 points having won 3 stages so far and accumulating 3 playoff points. The question on everyone’s mind seems to be will Harvick finally see the winners circle this weekend?
This weekends 267 lap race will once again be broken down into 3 stages with the first stage ending at lap 80, the second stage at Lap 160 with the final and race winning lap scheduled to end on Lap 267.
In our fantasy NASCAR league here on Drivingonmarbles.com, we make 5 weekly picks and 1 main driver we choose at the beginning of the season. We’re only allowed to have 3 of our drivers in the top 12 as long as out main driver is in the top 12. If your main driver isn’t in the top 12 then you SOL.
The main driver I selected this year is Martin Truex Jr. who is in the top 12, so in today’s post I’ll be sharing the other two drivers I’ll be selecting to fill out my top 3 and why.
My first pick this week has got to be Brad Keselowski. With his win last weekend in Atlanta and having won two of his last three races at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him driving into victory lane once again this weekend.
Rounding out my top 3 picks is going to be Kevin Harvick. Even though he’s straddled into a Ford, that doesn’t seem to be affecting his ability to run “FREAKY FAST”. Harvick led 142 laps here two years ago and ended up winning…he’s been pretty dominant so far this year as well. I believe after the first two races he is definitely looking for redemption.
Sunday’s running of the Kobalt 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is scheduled for green flag at 3:46pm/et.
