NASCAR 2025: 5 Underrated Drivers Who Could Shake Up the Daytona 500

Bryan’s 2025 NASCAR Top 15 Driver Breakdown – Part 3 (11-15)

Bryan’s 2025 NASCAR Top 15 Driver Breakdown – Part 3 (11-15)

Alright, Race fans, we’ve made it to Part 3 of my 2025 NASCAR driver breakdown, where I attempt to sound like an expert while roasting these guys like it’s a Comedy Central special.

If you missed the first two parts:

  • Part 1: 2025 NASCAR Driver Rankings: Top 5 Must-Watch Stars & Fantasy Picks for Daytona, where I covered the big dogs like Blaney, Logano, Byron, Reddick (my new main guy), and Bell.
  • Part 2: Fantasy NASCAR Guide: Who to Watch in My Top 10 for Daytona 2025 which was all about Hendrick’s heavyweights (Larson, Elliott, Bowman), superspeedway king Denny Hamlin, and the return of my former fantasy main driver, Martin Truex Jr. for a one-race Daytona 500 cameo.

Now it’s time for the final five in the top 15. These guys may not be as hyped as the names above, but make no mistake—they can steal wins and shake up the standings at any given moment.

Let’s dive in!

1️⃣1️⃣ Austin Cindric – The Daytona 500 Specialist

🟢 Team: Team Penske (#2 Ford)
🏆 2024 Season: Quiet, but strong on superspeedways
💡 Best Track Type: Superspeedways, road courses

Why He’s a Contender:
If you’re picking Daytona 500 specialists, Cindric needs to be on your radar. The guy WON the 2022 Daytona 500 as a rookie, proving that he’s got the skills to handle pack racing better than most veterans.

At superspeedways, Cindric is like a silent assassin—he’s not always in the spotlight, but somehow, he ends up in the mix late when it counts. And with Penske power under the hood, you know he’s got the speed to compete.

🔴 Biggest Risk:
Outside of superspeedways and road courses, he’s kinda just… there. If he doesn’t win or finish top-five at Daytona, he might go into hibernation for a while.

🏁 Bryan’s Take:
Cindric is like that guy in your fantasy league who only cares about two weeks of the season—but those two weeks? He DOMINATES.

1️⃣2️⃣ Brad Keselowski – The Veteran Who Wants One More Big Win

🟢 Team: RFK Racing (#6 Ford)
🏆 2024 Season: Slowly rebuilding RFK into a serious contender
💡 Best Track Type: Superspeedways, short tracks

Why He’s a Contender:
Brad K is one of the best superspeedway racers in NASCAR history, but for some reason, he’s never won a Daytona 500.

I mean, seriously—how?? The guy has SIX wins at Talladega, he’s always in the mix at Daytona, and yet somehow, he’s never gotten it done in the Great American Race.

He’s the co-owner of RFK Racing, and honestly? That team keeps getting better. If the cards fall right, this could be his year to finally break through.

🔴 Biggest Risk:
He’s too aggressive at times, and that’s not always a great trait at Daytona. You need patience, and Brad sometimes forgets that.

🏁 Bryan’s Take:
Brad K is like that guy at the casino who keeps doubling his bet on red—eventually, it HAS to hit… right?!

1️⃣3️⃣ Ross Chastain – The Wild Card

🟢 Team: Trackhouse Racing (#1 Chevrolet)
🏆 2024 Season: Had moments of brilliance, but also a few wrecks
💡 Best Track Type: Road courses, short tracks

Why He’s a Contender:
If pure chaos was a driver, it would be Ross Chastain.

The guy drives like every race is his last, and you never know whether he’s going to win the race or absolutely destroy half the field in the process.

His “Hail Melon” move at Martinsville in 2022 was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen in NASCAR. Since then? He’s been a mix of genius and madness, but he’s definitely a threat to win anytime he’s in a good car.

🔴 Biggest Risk:
He’s a wrecking ball. If there’s a controversial move, he’s probably involved.

🏁 Bryan’s Take:
Ross is like that friend who always convinces you to do something stupid—but somehow, it actually works out half the time.

1️⃣4️⃣ Erik Jones – The Underrated Superspeedway Star

🟢 Team: Legacy Motor Club (#43 Toyota)
🏆 2024 Season: Showed flashes of brilliance despite underpowered equipment
💡 Best Track Type: Superspeedways, intermediates

Why He’s a Contender:
Let me tell you something—Erik Jones is sneaky good at Daytona.

He won the 2018 Daytona summer race, and while he’s not in top-tier equipment, he has a habit of surviving wrecks and being in the right place at the right time.

He’s now part of Legacy Motor Club’s Toyota lineup, and with some JGR backing, don’t be shocked if he outperforms expectations this season.

🔴 Biggest Risk:
Legacy Motor Club isn’t a powerhouse team yet. Toyota support helps, but he’s still not in a Penske, Hendrick, or Gibbs-level car.

🏁 Bryan’s Take:
Erik Jones is like that underrated NFL team that nobody talks about—until they ruin everyone’s playoff brackets.

1️⃣5️⃣ Bubba Wallace – The Superspeedway Sleeper Pick

🟢 Team: 23XI Racing (#23 Toyota)
🏆 2024 Season: Showed consistency, especially on superspeedways
💡 Best Track Type: Superspeedways

Why He’s a Contender:
Bubba Wallace is one of the most improved drivers in the field, and he’s turned into a real threat at superspeedways.

He already has wins at Talladega, and his best career finishes at Daytona prove that he knows how to navigate pack racing. He’s a dark horse to win the Daytona 500, especially if Toyota teammates work with him instead of against him.

🔴 Biggest Risk:
His aggressive driving style can backfire, and he needs the right drafting help to get the job done.

🏁 Bryan’s Take:
Bubba is like that NBA player who suddenly becomes unstoppable in the playoffs. He’s clutch at superspeedways, and that’s dangerous.

Final Thoughts on Part 3

And that’s a wrap on my Top 15 breakdown heading into the 2025 Daytona 500!

🔥 Final Notes:

  • Best Daytona 500 Pick? Denny Hamlin. He’s won it three times.
  • Biggest Wild Card? Ross Chastain. Because… Ross Chastain.
  • Best Sleeper Pick? Erik Jones or Bubba Wallace—because superspeedways love a surprise winner.

Alright, let’s see how this chaotic first race of the season shakes out. May my fantasy picks be blessed with good drafting partners and zero wrecks. 🏁🚗💨
