Fantasy NASCAR Picks: My Lineup for the 2025 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington

Hey race fans, it’s playoff time! The regular season is behind us, the intensity is cranked up to eleven, and we’re heading into one of the toughest, trickiest, and tire-chewingest tracks on the schedule, Darlington.

They don’t call it “Too Tough to Tame” for nothing. One lap you’re dancing with the wall, the next, you’re sliding backward wondering where your right rear went.

I couldn’t be more excited to get my fantasy roster locked in for the 2025 Cook Out Southern 500.

As always, I’ve got my main guy Tyler Reddick locked and loaded, and I’ve built my top 12 picks and dark horse lineup with playoff grit, Darlington dominance, and fantasy points in mind. So let’s dive in!

My Top Fantasy Picks from the Top 12 for the 2025 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington

Tyler Reddick

My main driver and permanent lineup anchor, Tyler Reddick, brings a mix of aggression and control that’s tailor-made for Darlington.

He’s been sneaky good here over the past couple of years, and while he hasn’t taken home the Southern 500 hardware yet, he’s been knocking on the door.

Reddick’s got playoff momentum, decent long-run speed, and the kind of laser focus it takes to survive 500 miles at the Lady in Black. I’m riding with him, win or wall scrape.

Denny Hamlin

If there’s one guy who treats Darlington like his personal backyard barbecue, it’s Denny Hamlin. With four Southern 500 victories and a resume full of Darlington dominance, he’s a must have.

The man knows how to conserve tires better than anyone in the garage, and he always seems to find another gear once the lights go down.

If you’re not starting Hamlin, you’re playing with fire.

Seriously, this might be the most obvious pick of the entire playoffs.

Chase Briscoe

Now here’s the sneaky spice in this week’s recipe, Chase Briscoe.

Quietly sitting eighth in the playoff standings, Briscoe is back in top-tier equipment with JGR and enters the playoffs ready to prove he belongs.

He’s no stranger to tough tracks, and he’s shown strong results at Darlington before.

He might not be everyone’s fantasy darling, but I like the upside here. This is the kind of pick that could separate the leaders from the followers in your pool.

Three Strong Picks Outside the Top 12 for the 2025 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington

Josh Berry

This rookie is making waves in all the right places. Darlington demands respect, and Josh Berry’s short track and intermediate experience fits well here.

He’s had solid runs and stage points even without top tier power. If he stays clean and manages his tires like we know he can, he could easily sneak into the top 10 or grab some bonus points where others stumble.

A dark horse who’s smarter than his stats suggest.

Austin Dillon

Don’t sleep on Austin Dillon. He’s lurking just outside the playoffs and needs a statement run if he wants to stay relevant.

That kind of pressure tends to wake drivers up, and Dillon’s had some strong Darlington runs in the past, especially when he stays aggressive early and picks up stage points.

RCR has shown flashes of brilliance at the intermediate tracks, and if strategy plays his way, Dillon could surprise a lot of people.

Alex Bowman

Alex Bowman is on the playoff bubble, which means he’s got everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Darlington’s a tough venue, but he’s handled it well in the past with four career top 10s.

While consistency hasn’t exactly been his calling card this year, the desperation to move into the next round of playoffs can turn any mid-pack car into a rocket.

If Bowman finds his rhythm, he could score big points this week.

If I Didn’t Have Reddick: Who Would I Pick?

If Tyler Reddick wasn’t locked in as my main guy, I’d be rolling with William Byron.

Byron has been ultra-consistent all year, and Hendrick Motorsports has given him bulletproof cars almost everywhere.

He’s finished top five in four of the last six Darlington races and knows how to stay out of trouble while capitalizing late.

He may not be the flashiest pick, but he’s the kind of driver who quietly racks up fantasy gold.

Full Fantasy Lineup Table

Here’s the full breakdown of my picks for the 2025 Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington:

Driver Category Why I Picked Them
Tyler Reddick Main Driver Consistent top-10 threat with playoff focus; strong at Darlington
Denny Hamlin Top 12 Four-time Southern 500 winner; king of tire management
Chase Briscoe Top 12 Playoff sleeper with JGR speed and past Darlington success
Josh Berry Outside Top 12 Smart driver with upside at difficult tracks; good value play
Austin Dillon Outside Top 12 Desperate for points; could sneak into top-10 with strategy
Alex Bowman Outside Top 12 Solid history at Darlington; needs a big playoff push
William Byron Alternate Top 12 Consistent finisher with Hendrick power; a great fallback pick

Wrapping It Up: Darlington Demands Guts and Strategy

This is the first playoff race of the year, and there’s no easing into it. Darlington will chew up anyone who’s not ready and reward the bold and the prepared.

I’m feeling confident in this week’s lineup—Reddick, Hamlin, and Briscoe bring the playoff firepower, while Berry, Dillon, and Bowman have just enough sneaky upside to tilt the scales.

Let’s hope this fantasy roster avoids the wall, stacks the stage points, and brings home the win.
