Fantasy NASCAR Picks for the 2025 Via México 250: My Top Picks, Underdogs & Strategy for Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez

drivingonmarbles-mexico-2025

Hey there, race fans! Bryan here—and you know what time it is. We’re swapping the ovals for the twists and turns of Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City this Sunday, June 15th, for the Via México 250.

This place boasts blind corners, bumpy elevation changes, and a stadium section louder than a mariachi band—so buckle up, amigos!

I’ve got Reddick locked in as my main guy, plus two bona fide road-course savants from the top 12. Then I’ll roll out three under-the-radar picks (13+) who thrive when the track screams “Left… then right… then STOP!” Let’s dive in.

Locked & Loaded: My Main Driver – Tyler Reddick (#45, 23XI Racing)

Still riding with my guy Tyler Reddick. He’s our aggressive, late-race restarter, and although his Cup wins on road courses are still pending, he’s shown flashes of brilliance (Top 10 at Sonoma this year). He’ll be hunting stage points and looking to avoid the tangle-ups in the infamous esses.

Bryan’s Bonus Tip: If Reddick can stay on the white-line and keep the tires alive, a sneaky Top 5 is totally on the table.

Top Road-Course Experts from the Top 12 (Pre-Qualifying):

Kyle Larson (#5, Hendrick Motorsports)

Larson’s résumé reads like a road-course “greatest hits” album. He won Watkins Glen in 2022—beating AJ Allmendinger by 0.882 sec—and followed that up with a dominant Charlotte Roval victory in 2024, leading 62 of 109 laps.

Even if he starts mid-pack, his cold-tire speed vaults him forward for big stage-point hauls.

Fantasy Risk: Low. Larson’s road-course résumé is ridiculous.

Chase Elliott (#9, Hendrick Motorsports)

Dubbed the unofficial “King of the Road Courses,” Elliott owns two wins at Watkins Glen (2018, ’19) and two at the Charlotte Roval (2020, ’24). He corners on rails, racks up stage points like clockwork, and seldom overdrives. Wherever he qualifies, I trust him to deliver Top 5 consistency.

Fantasy Risk: Low–Medium. Rare street-race slipups are his only kryptonite.

Underdog Picks: Road-Race Specialists Outside the Top 12

A.J. Allmendinger (#16, Kaulig Racing)

They call him “The Dinger” for a reason: all three of his Cup victories have come on road courses (Watkins Glen ’14, Indy ’21, Charlotte Roval ’23). He nails qualifying more often than I spill coffee, racks up Stage 1 & 2 points, and then sneaks into the Top 5 when the dust settles.

Fantasy Risk: Medium. Avoids traffic = pure profit.

Daniel Suárez (#99, Trackhouse Racing)

Hometown hero incoming! Suárez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a Cup race at Sonoma in 2022, and he knows Hermanos Rodríguez’s bumps like it’s his backyard. He thrives on altitude, smart pit calls, and the roar of 40,000 local fans—prime recipe for stage points and a surprise podium.

Fantasy Risk: Medium. Home-track mojo is real.

Shane Van Gisbergen (#88, Trackhouse Racing)

The Kiwi phenom shocked NASCAR by winning the inaugural Chicago Street Race in his Cup debut. SVG’s raw street-race aggression translates perfectly to any twisty layout. Expect him to muscle through restarts, collect stage points, and fight for a Top 5 if strategy falls his way.

Fantasy Risk: Medium–High. Still learning the NextGen car, but talent is off the charts.

Final Thoughts: Viva México—¡Y Vamos a Correr!

Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a true rollers-coaster of asphalt—one mistake in the esses and you’re collecting rear bumpers all afternoon.

My strategy mixes safe bets (Reddick, Larson, Elliott) with high-upside outsiders (Allmendinger, Suárez, SVG).

If we nail the stage-point game and dodge the carnage in the stadium section, this lineup should light up my fantasy scoreboard.

Make your final adjustments before practice wraps, double-check your roster, and get ready for the roar of 40,000 fans.

I’ll catch you after the checkered flag with a full breakdown of how our picks did—hopefully with plenty of tacos in hand. 🌮🏁
