Fantasy NASCAR Picks for the 2025 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma: Top Road Warriors & Sleepers for Sonoma Strategy

Hey race fans, Bryan here, and we’ve made it to one of my favorite races on the calendar.

It’s Sonoma weekend, and you know what that means: it’s time to forget the high banks and straightaways and lean into some finesse, patience, and tire strategy. This is wine country, but we’re not here for a tasting we’re here to dominate our fantasy pools and score big on one of the most technically demanding tracks of the season.

Sonoma isn’t about raw horsepower. It’s about rhythm, brake control, and knowing when to hit the gas and when to just… breathe.

With elevation changes, hairpins, and those sneaky off camber corners, the best drivers this week are the ones who treat the track like a puzzle instead of a drag race.

And yes, I’m still rolling with my man Tyler Reddick, he’s my locked in pick every week.

So let’s build the rest of this roster the right way: two from the top 12 and three from the outside looking in. I’ve got the stats, I’ve got the momentum, and I’ve got a gut feeling about a few of these picks. Let’s get into this week’s race picks for .

Top Tier Road Warriors – My Elite Picks from the Top 12

These three are the ones I’m hitching my wagon to this week. All have road course chops and the potential to stack stage points while pushing for a top five finish.

Tyler Reddick (#45 Toyota)

He’s my ride-or-die, and luckily, he’s also one of the best at this type of track. Reddick has five top fives this year and keeps knocking on the door for that first win.

I don’t think it’s a matter of if it’s a matter of when. And Sonoma feels like the kind of place he could finally break through. He’s aggressive when he needs to be and smooth when it matters. That’s exactly the combo you need to tame this course.

Chase Elliott (#9 Chevrolet)

Chase has been my go to road course guy for years. He’s got more wins on these types of tracks than most of the field combined, and his ability to manage pace without burning up his tires is second to none.

He’s already got six top fives this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he adds another one this Sunday. If you’re not locking him in on your roster for Sonoma, we might need to have a chat.

Kyle Larson (#5 Chevrolet)

Larson is one of those rare drivers who can muscle the car around the corners and still make it look smooth. He’s won here before and knows how to qualify up front, which is huge at Sonoma, where track position really matters.

He’s already got three wins this season and is always a threat to dominate the stages. I like him to be in the mix from green flag to checkers.

Honorable Mention: Christopher Bell Deserves a Look at Sonoma

Alright, let’s say hypothetically I wasn’t locked in with my main guy Tyler Reddick.

If I had the freedom to pick any top 12 driver outside of my final three, I’d be seriously eyeing Christopher Bell.

Why? Because the guy flat out knows how to get around a road course.

Bell has already proven his road racing chops with a win at the Daytona Road Course and strong runs at tracks like COTA.

He’s cool under pressure, smart in traffic, and his team calls strategy like chess masters. Sonoma is one of those tracks where brains matter just as much as bravery, and Bell checks both boxes.

He’s already stacked 3 wins this season and quietly sits near the top in consistency seven top 5s so far isn’t too shabby. Add in the fact that he usually qualifies well (which means stage point potential), and you’ve got a fantasy gem who could sneak his way into the top tier of scoring this week.

If you’re not riding with Reddick and looking to swap in a reliable road-course threat, Bell’s your guy.

Deep Cuts & Road Course Sleepers – Outside the Top 12 Picks with Big Upside

If you want to win your pool, you can’t just go chalk. These three picks from outside the top 12 might just be the difference makers in your lineup.

Shane van Gisbergen (#88 Chevrolet)

Let’s talk about SVG. This guy just won last weekend, and it’s no fluke. He’s been a monster on road courses ever since he joined the Cup Series.

His background in Supercars makes him uniquely suited to handle tracks like Sonoma. Tight turns, tire wear, pit strategy, he thrives on it. I don’t care that he’s not running top 10 in points. He’s a must pick here.

AJ Allmendinger (#16 Chevrolet)

This guy lives for road courses. AJ has been racing here longer than most of these guys have had their driver’s licenses.

He might not win you the Daytona 500, but he’s a consistent top 10 threat at Sonoma. He’s smart, aggressive, and isn’t afraid to gamble on strategy. He’s got five top 10s already and will absolutely give you value this week.

Michael McDowell (#71 Chevrolet)

McDowell doesn’t get enough credit for how steady he is at tracks like this. He’s not flashy, but that’s kind of the point. He stays out of trouble, runs clean laps, and picks off cars during the long green flag runs.

He’s the guy you pick when you want a high floor driver who can sneak into the top eight while everyone else wrecks each other in turn 7.

Bonus Road Course Sleeper: Daniel Suárez Could Surprise at Sonoma

Now I know I already locked in my three underdog road ringers: AJ, SVG, and McDowell, but if you’re looking for another high upside dart throw this week, let me slide Daniel Suárez into the conversation.

Sonoma isn’t just another road course for Suárez, it’s the site of his first (and so far only) Cup Series win, which came in dominating fashion back in 2022. He led 47 laps that day, ran smooth all race long, and straight-up beat the best in the field.

Even though the #99 team has been up and down this year, Suárez tends to come alive when we hit the twisties. He’s comfortable with the left and right rhythm, aggressive on restarts, and isn’t afraid to gamble on strategy sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn’t, but it always makes for fun fantasy potential.

If your roster needs a bold alternate pick with proven history at Sonoma, Suárez brings both flair and track record. Just don’t blame me if he overcooks Turn 11 trying to make it spicy.

Wrapping Things Up in Wine Country

So that’s the squad. Reddick, Elliott, Larson, van Gisbergen, AJ, and McDowell. I feel good about this lineup and if you’re playing for stage points, consistency, and potential chaos-avoidance, this might be the one that vaults you to the top of your league.

Sonoma’s not about brute force. It’s about who can think three corners ahead. If you build your team with that mindset, you’re already ahead of half the field.

So pour a glass (of water you need to stay hydrated), set your lineup, and let’s enjoy one of the most unique races on the schedule.

Catch you after the checkered flag,

Bryan
