2025 Jack Link’s 500 Recap: Cindric’s Surprise Win, Post-Race Chaos & My Fantasy Fallout

ack Link’s 500 Recap Cindric’s Surprise Win, Post-Race Chaos & My Fantasy Fallout-2025

Hey race fans — Bryan here, back with your weekly dose of superspeedway chaos. And wow, what a Talladega Sunday we just witnessed!

I mean, are we even surprised that Dega delivered pure mayhem from green flag to post-race inspection drama?

Let’s talk about it.

Cindric Steals the Show (and the Win)

Out of nowhere, Austin Cindric pulled off a huge win for Team Penske, holding off Ryan Preece by just 0.022 seconds in a wild photo finish. It’s his first win of the season and only the third of his Cup career — and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Penske really needed this.

Talladega brought the usual madness: 65 lead changes (yep, you read that right) among 23 drivers. We had four cautions, and let’s be honest — we were all just waiting for “The Big One” that never quite came. Instead, we got a high-speed chess match that rewarded patience and perfect timing.

Also, shoutout to Kyle Larson for finally nabbing his first career stage win at Talladega (Stage 1), and Bubba Wallace who took Stage 2. Stage points matter, people!

Preece and Logano Disqualified?! Seriously?!

Just when you thought the checkered flag told the full story, NASCAR said, “Hold my spoiler.”

Both Ryan Preece and Joey Logano were disqualified after post-race inspection. Turns out their rear spoilers didn’t pass the sniff test — Preece had unapproved shims, and Logano had a loose bolt. It was brutal. Preece was set for a career-best second-place finish, and Logano finally looked solid again — then boom, they’re out, dropped to 38th and 39th.

Neither team is appealing, so the shakeup sticks.

Official Top 10 (After The Dust Settled)

  1. Austin Cindric
  2. Kyle Larson
  3. William Byron
  4. Noah Gragson
  5. Chase Elliott
  6. Carson Hocevar
  7. Alex Bowman
  8. Bubba Wallace
  9. Daniel Suárez
  10. Austin Dillon

Wild how different this looks compared to what we saw at the finish line.

Fantasy Hits & Misses

I took some big swings this week, and let’s just say Talladega played me like a fiddle.

Hits:

  • Austin Cindric – If you picked him, congrats! That’s a fantasy jackpot.

  • Kyle Larson – Clutch run and stage points. This guy continues to deliver.

  • William Byron – Another solid outing. He’s becoming a fantasy must-lock.

Misses:

  • Ryan Preece – This one hurts. I had him as a bold outside-the-top-12 sleeper pick… only for the DQ to ruin it all.

  • Joey Logano – Same story. Looked great until post-race.

  • Brad Keselowski & Ryan Blaney – Early trouble, zero fantasy help. Thanks, Ford.

Talladega giveth and Talladega taketh away.

Next Stop: Texas

We roll into Texas Motor Speedway next weekend, and I’ll be honest — I have no clue what to expect. This season has been all over the place, and I kinda love it.

Cindric is now locked into the playoffs, which shakes up the standings in a big way. Can another surprise winner punch their ticket next week? I’ll be back soon with my Texas picks, strategy, and maybe a few bold predictions (no DQs, please).

Until then, keep your fantasy lineups tight and your spoiler bolts tighter.
